Exporting Meeting Recordings from DingTalk, Tencent Meeting and Feishu

All three apps prefer cloud storage for recordings. Exports are mostly MP4 video and M4A audio; some versions only offer online playback or share links, so the download path is worth knowing in advance.

Where recordings live

  • DingTalk: group chat → group settings → live replays/cloud drive; or Me → Meetings → Recordings. MP4/M4A, downloadable.
  • Tencent Meeting: client Recording list or web console → cloud recordings. MP4/M4A, downloadable from web.
  • Feishu: Meetings → cloud recordings; Minutes is a separate product with online transcripts and exportable audio.

Cloud retention and permissions

Recordings past the retention window get deleted — download before expiry. Check the "allow download" permission before sharing anything sensitive. For critical meetings, run local recording alongside cloud recording.

The post-export chain

  • Compress for archive: slide-heavy meetings hold CRF 25–28 well; an hour typically drops from 1–2 GB to 300–600 MB.
  • Mute for confidentiality: keep the picture, drop the audio track.
  • Transcribe to minutes: feed the video directly to local speech recognition (audio is extracted automatically) and edit names, figures and action items.
