Xiaohongshu Video and Images: Aspect Ratios, Duration and Quality Targets
Xiaohongshu is a feed of tall cards. The 3:4 cover occupies maximum screen area in the two-column grid; video notes perform best at 9:16. Pre-processing images locally matters because the platform re-compresses anything heavy.
Image notes
- Cover: 1080×1440 (3:4); keep the subject center-upper.
- Per-image weight: pre-compress to roughly 0.5–1 MB; platform re-compression on heavy files is what makes notes look mushy.
- Unify widths at 1080 px so swiping between images does not jump.
Video notes
9:16 or 3:4 both display well; 1080p H.264 at 6–10 Mbps is the sweet spot. Keep clips tight — completion rate is the dominant signal, same as every short-video feed.
