Join Multiple Recordings Into One
Split meeting takes, podcast segments, interview cuts — they all need to become one file. The only real decision: hard cut or crossfade at the seams.
Normalize formats first
Mixed sample rates and channel counts cause warping or silence on some segments. If one segment misbehaves after merging, convert it to the shared spec and re-merge. Voice content benefits from mono — half the size, more consistent loudness.
Hard cut vs crossfade
Hard cuts suit meeting audio and narrated segments with natural pauses. Crossfades (1–3 s) suit music beds and podcast transitions.
After merging
Listen once at the seams for clicks and loudness jumps. Level jumps mean unequal sources — normalize each segment first, then merge. For transcripts, run local speech recognition on the joined file.
