Blur License Plates and Faces Before You Publish
Mosaic exists to hide what cannot be published — the craft is covering fully, precisely, and for exactly as long as needed.
What must be covered
License plates and house numbers are the most common leaks — they locate a person or address. Documents, shipping labels and on-screen accounts are just as sensitive; minors' faces should always be blurred, consent or not.
Cover the file itself too: capture time and GPS location ride in metadata. Clear it before publishing for a complete job.
Positioning regions and limiting duration
Regions are set by four edge percentages — left, right, top, bottom — forming the rectangle to obscure. The numbers mirror the crop tool, but the semantics invert: inside the box gets masked.
If the target only enters frame briefly — a car crossing from 5s to 10s — restrict the mosaic to that time range. The rest stays sharp and the video stays watchable.
Strength, and when to crop instead
Too weak and the plate is still readable; too heavy and the area dominates the frame. The floor is "unreadable when zoomed". Oversize the box slightly for moving targets so edges never peek.
If the target hugs the frame edge and adds nothing, cropping it out is cleaner than masking. Keep mosaic for composition-critical spots — or combine both.
