Turning Photos into a Video: Sequences, Timing and Distribution
A photo sequence is the highest-reuse video format there is: travel recaps, product showcases, course galleries. Two parameters drive everything — per-photo duration and output width. Get the pacing right and it works.
Duration sets the rhythm
- Social recap: 1.5–2 s per photo — 15 photos ≈ 25–30 s.
- Product showcase: 2.5–3 s, time to read details.
- Course/archive: 3–4 s to match narration.
- Total = count × duration. Pick the music first and land the last photo near the track's end.
Width and mixed ratios
Output width targets the channel: 1080 landscape general, 720 fine for phone distribution; portrait platforms take portrait sequences directly.
Mixed portrait/landscape photos get unified to the output frame — pre-crop wild mixes to a common ratio for a cleaner result. Photos smaller than the output width get upscaled and soft; screenshots rarely work in HD sequences.
After the merge
Sequences are silent: add a music track and title text afterward. Photo videos have low bitrate — they rarely need compression; use target-size mode only when a portal rejects the file.
Need an animation instead? The same sequence can render as a GIF with the same timing logic.
