Kuaishou Upload Specs: Frame, Clarity, Cover
Kuaishou and Douyin are both vertical short-video platforms with similar parameter bones — but different temperament: Kuaishou is far more tolerant of landscape and raw footage, and the cover weighs more. Tune to the platform’s character, not a copied checklist.
Framing and duration
Vertical 9:16 (1080×1920) is the feed mainstream, but Kuaishou accepts landscape content far more readily than Douyin: landscape footage need not be force-cropped — the feed adapts by ratio. Panoramic scenery and landscape game clips keep their full composition.
Duration spans wide: fifteen-second life snippets to ten-plus-minute mid-form all have an audience. Go with the content’s natural length — the recommendation logic tolerates "complete expression" better than a hard completion-rate squeeze.
Encoding and quality
H.264 + AAC is the solid pairing: broad compatibility and fast platform transcodes. Start at 1080p 30fps with 8-12Mbps source bitrate — platform recompression is inevitable, and source bitrate decides what survives it.
Kuaishou’s down-to-earth culture forgives rawness, not blur: err on the higher source-quality side. And never upload a twice-compressed hand-me-down file — that is the first cause of collapsed quality.
Cover and publishing
Kuaishou’s discover feed shows covers larger than Douyin’s (big-card layouts carry real weight): pick a frame with information and a centered subject — the cover is the first impression, not a patch.
BGM from the in-app library (rights hygiene is identical across platforms); burn subtitles in — external subtitle files do not render on every client. Before publishing, verify codec and bitrate with an inspection and go back if the numbers fall short.
